# Import LinkedIn connections

Your LinkedIn network holds years of professional relationships that may never appear in your email history. Importing your connections gives CTD a more complete picture of who you know — expanding the warm paths available to you and your team.

1. Go to [LinkedIn's data export page](https://www.linkedin.com/mypreferences/d/download-my-data) and request your data (full archive).
2. LinkedIn will email you a download link.
3. Download the file and unzip it. You'll find `Connections.csv` and `messages.csv` in the same archive — you can import both.
4. Go to [app.ctd.ai/accounts](https://app.ctd.ai/accounts), scroll to the **LinkedIn** section, and upload the file — or if you have the [CTD MCP](/content/guide/article/mcp-overview/index.html), drag and drop the file into Claude and tell it to push your connections to Connect The Dots.

## Adding new connections later

Yes — you can add new LinkedIn connections at any time, and doing so **will not overwrite the connections you've already imported**. Reimporting works exactly like the first import: it only adds the new connections in your file and leaves everything else untouched.

1. Request a fresh archive from [LinkedIn's data export page](https://www.linkedin.com/mypreferences/d/download-my-data) (same as your first import).
2. Download and unzip it to get the latest `Connections.csv`.
3. Go back to [app.ctd.ai/accounts](https://app.ctd.ai/accounts), click **Reimport** next to Contacts in the **LinkedIn** section, and upload the new file.

CTD compares the new file against what you already have and imports only the difference — the connections you've made since your last upload. Your existing connections stay exactly as they are.

**Tip:** We recommend reimporting your connections about every 6 months to keep your network current. We'll send you a reminder when it's time.
